Shalom Chaverim,

It is hard to believe that we have reached the half-way point of the school year. One of the highlights of this time of year for me is that so many of our alumni, home for the winter break, come back to visit Gann. Yesterday, one alumnus and I were catching up, and he commented on how I often talk about the spiritual and emotional rhythms of the calendar and the school year.

In that spirit I hope that this winter break will serve as a period of warmth and light during these cold and intense winter months. Our faculty, staff, and students have worked so hard to make the first half of this year as productive and successful as it has been, and I am grateful to be surrounded by people who care so much about learning and about each other.

May we all take the time to step back and reflect on what we have accomplished over these past few months and focus on the goals and learning still to come. May we take the time to appreciate each other and ourselves. And may next week provide the rest and restoration that will reenergize us for another half-year of learning and growth!

Shabbat Shalom and Happy New Year!

Rabbi Marc Baker
